2 yr. old Marygrace singing & playing, "Too-Dah-Lah"

We come because . . .
1. My son loves it.
2. I feel like he is actually learning something about music.
3. I like it that the class is longer than a month or two with
a very set group of children so they can get to know each other.

"My 2 little guys now feel the rhythm thanks to Jill, Steve and Music for Children! The interactive, storytelling nature of the class allows children to discover music in a fun-filled, encouraging environment. And the dancing...!"

“I attended open houses for four different music programs. Yours was so
clearly superior. I am so excited to enroll” - Manhattan Parent

“Music For Children is the only class we do consistently. The kids ask for it. Benner wishes every day could be Wednesday so he could have music every day. Our 6 year old heard a song he used to sing in the class when he was 2 and he jumped up and started dancing around singing. It's all of our favorite class!”

“Our son is first chair in the high school orchestra. We attribute so much of his success to your program”
    -Westport parent

"Music for Children is really a magical experience for kids. Every class has a theme that is carried out through music, movement and instrument play. There are a lot of complex musical ideas interwoven in each class, but the main message is fun! The teachers are accomplished musicians and even better, great kid people. There's no pressure or push to perform, just a chance to spend an hour enjoying all kinds of music. A+!"

“Mary Ann, I just want you to know, I have two older children and I’ve experienced so many early childhood programs, including music classes, and yours, by far, is the most authentic, well-rounded and grounded program we have ever attended. Thank you!” -Elisa Zachary, parent

“Where can I start? Is is sufficient just to say that you guys are fabulous? I think not. How about because there is nothing more wonderful on a hurried morning when you are running late than to walk into music and hear "You're just in time! Come on in!" Or how about because you guys find each child to be just as talented and amazing as every parent imagines them to be! Best of all, you make a warm, nurturing and safe environment where every child (and parent) can learn and grow, and come to love music and movement.”

“Wanna know what I like best about my music class? We get to DO the music!” -5 year old Greenwich student

“Mary Ann Hall's Music for Children is by far the best music class for children out there. In fact, of all the activities my children do it is the one they ask for all the time. All three of my children ages 5, 3.5 and 2 have been going since the baby/toddler class which means I have been through three baby/toddler classes, three twos classes, two threes classes, one fours class and one fives class and even I still love going! Jill and Steve Pierce are both remarkable instructors with their own unique styles beloved by the children. They know every child's name, not to mention every siblings name and they make the class a personal experience. They act as guides on a musical adventure, providing the environment within which each child can develop their own intrinsic love of music, their own rhythm and their own beat. The music is often original, the instruments are high quality, there is a ton of movement and music theory and orientation is woven into the fabric of the activities. It is a wonderful program which I would and have highly recommended to one and all!!!”

“This music attacks my heart.” -Julia, age 5

“Nicole loves her music class so much she has learned exactly what days come before and after her Thursday class- so that she can count how many days until her next class! She says-" I love music class because we dance and run around to all the different music sounds. We get to play the piano and color our books and sometimes there are little secret pop up things in our coloring books! I like it because it is really, really, really fun!" If there is any thing that makes a kid love something for the rest of life it is because it is FUN, but don't you know that already?”

“Madison joined Mary Hall's Music for Children at age 8 months, she started speaking by 11 months, and was using full sentences by 15 months. I'm convinced that it is due to her involvement with music. She spends her days walking around singing and making up her own songs by inserting different words into the tunes she's learned in class and she's not even 3. For the past 3 weeks she's been setting up Music Class (like teacher Amy) and then has James & I join her for class. She also says goodbye to everyone by tapping on their hand and singing bye bye xxx we'll see you real soon as Teacher Amy does in class.”

“Your curriculum is clearly very well designed. It is age-appropriate, well paced, and informative. But most importantly, it is fun! I asked my son which was his favorite part of class and he said, "the dancing!" (I should have added, and good exercise : ) Because the curriculum is so terrific, I recommend Music for Children to all of my friends who live outside of the area -- confident that if they can find it, they will be happy with the program. But it is not why I ENTHUSIASTICALLY recommend YOUR classes to my local friends. Nor is it what all the parents discuss outside your doors as we wait for class to begin. What makes Steve's class a not-to-be-missed experience is the teacher. Professor Benjamin Bloom -- in his book "Developing Talent in Young People" -- talks about how important it is that a child's first teacher is enthusiastic about the material they are teaching and also be attuned to teaching young children. Having two children, I have had the opportunity to see how Steve subtly changes to accommodate children's needs at different ages. Yet in each class I have observed how Steve connects with each child. Once a week, Steve takes our children, stretches their imaginations, and creates a loving environment of fun and music. What more could a parent ask for? My only regret is that I didn't find your Music for Children class when my kids where babies. As a final note, I wanted to mention that "Teacher Steve's music class" is Jeffrey's absolute favorite class. He knows when it is Thursday, and is ready and waiting to get going to class. The one time we had to make a detour for his sister, he was beside himself fretting we'd be late.”

“As a musician, I believe that the philosophy and methods used by the Music For Children program is absolutely the right way to introduce music so that it becomes part of the child’s life and their education. The classes are organized, creative, fun and filled with good music. The teachers are well educated and talented. My children feel that music class is one of the best parts of their week.”

“I’ve been to several music classes with my child, and Music for Children is absolutely my favorite. The classes not only expose the children to a variety of musical styles, but they are especially creative, joyful, well – organized, and well rounded. I love that there is a theme each week, and each class involves playing musical instruments, pretending and imagining, singing and dancing.”
